Book Sneak Peek & Writing Technique
An Interview with Herschel Sterling on The Arc of the Bard Podcast
Recently, I did an interview on “The Arc of the Bard” podcast. I really enjoyed it. If you take a listen, you’ll be among the first to hear the “Introduction” to a book I’ve been working on for a while. I haven’t really told anyone about it so, I guess this is letting the cat outta the bag. You’ll also hear some jokes and hear about a writing technique I use myself and with my students, something I’ve been developing for a while now. Herschel, the host, was fun to chat with. Here are a few of his reflections from our chat:
Three things stand out for me in this interview with Dr. Michael Halcomb
First, Michael is a great presenter. Listen to him read the intro to his book. His expressiveness and elocution are neither forced, nor weak, or limp. We got the whole thing, in two parts. Second, his approach to comedy is honest and vulnerable. Foibles, and human frailty, inspire his joke writing. Along with these creative attributes, I learned a lesson in story structure. At the beginning, Michael explained his “W” theory of story development. Go listen.
Indeed, go listen!
