Hi Friends! As much as I’ve been wanting to write lately, I just haven’t had the time to do so. The start of this summer has proven to be insanely busy. I do, however, have a couple announcements I want to share. I’ll give one today and, hopefully, another tomorrow. Here’s today’s bit: I was recently “certified” as a “Clean Comedian” for the Clean Comedy Collective (CCC).
The vision of the CCC is “to connect Comedians and Producers nationwide to create family-friendly entertainment.” This was started by my pal, comedian Drew Davis, whom I’ve had on the Messed-Up To Set-Ups Podcast HERE and HERE. For anyone who’s been in comedy for any time at all, they’ll know that there’s an ongoing discussion about what is considered “clean.” It’s almost like there are as many definitions of clean as there are comedians.
Here’s how the CCC defines it:
No offensive language that includes cursing, racial slurs, punching down, etc.;
Avoid jokes that are heavily about sex or sexual stuff (innuendos can be okay); and,
Don’t do jokes that glorify weed, drugs or substance abuse.
While this is still probably too liberal for some folks I know, I think it’s fair and a good rubric/metric. Anyway, the CCC has just launched a new website and you can find me on there along with a host of other hilarious comedians. Check it out. And, if you, your church, your country club, your club, your event, your venue, etc. is ever in need of a comedian, let me know and, if I’m out of range, check out others on the CCC page.
