Press: "Bored Panda" & "AOL.com" Interview
The Humor Behind Hilarious Internet Comments
If you follow my work, this site, or know me, you know I write a lot. I always have. I try to write every single day. Last year, I had more than 300 articles on this site and more than 250k words, I believe. And, just yesterday, a comedian friend said, “Dude, it looks like you’re getting some good traction.” That was a nice affirmation. All that to say, it’s nice when the hard work does pay off; it’s nice when people notice. And sometimes it pays off in unexpected ways, like getting to be part of some cool interviews.
Let me back up for just a minute: the first time I ever connected to the internet was in the early 90s and, like many, I logged on through dial-up. The provider was, of course, AOL. I remember the screeching static sound like it was yesterday. And while I still make fun of some relatives who still have AOL email accounts, I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty freakin’ cool to be interviewed by them recently. I don’t know if it was a full-circle moment or anything like that, but I’m stoked.
And what’s really great is, this was a two-for-one interview, meaning I also got featured on “Bored Panda.” Yayuh!!! The interview was about hilarious comments that people leave on posts. They wanted to hear from a comedian and joke writer about why such comments are so funny, what makes them work, and what makes them land so effectively with so few words. You can see a few samples below, but if you want to check out the full interviews, you can do so HERE on AOL.com or HERE on BoredPanda.com.
